Step into Your Destiny: Let Yourself Be Taken Up by the Greater Things of God

By Jennifer Sanchez | bio | contact
Just as every parent desires good things for their child, the God who created you wants to see you thrive and become all that He designed you to be.  “Before I formed you in your mother’s womb I knew you,” he reminds us. “Before you were born I set you apart.”1 The Bible offers many inspiring and challenging messages about the plans God has for each of us and how we are to discover them.
First, the Lord has destined you to greatness. What a wonderful promise.  He has plans to prosper you and not to harm, plans to give you a hope and a future.2 He wants to reveal the treasures of darkness, riches stored in secret places, so that you may know that He is God.3
If you’re ever in doubt about something you feel called to do, have confidence in knowing that His grace is sufficient: His strength is made perfect in your weakness.4  Just as God used David the Sheppard to defeat Goliath, He desires to use you in greater ways than you can conceive or imagine. His plans are much greater than our own.  Let go of your fears and allow God to use you mightily. If God is for you, who can be against you?5
Second, He has enabled you to complete your task by providing you with all the gifts and talents needed to accomplish everything that you were commissioned for. But know that you cannot step into greatness on your own. Humble yourself and put your trust in God rather than in the ability He gave you.
Some circumstances are beyond our control, but nothing is impossible for God. If you allow Him to use you and listen to His ways, He promises to instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; He will counsel you and watch over you.6 If you completely surrender and relinquish control, doors will open up like never before. Victory will be yours.
Make this a month of discovery. Invest some time every single day to diligently seek God and ask Him to help you align your plans to His. This can be done during a quiet time of prayer and meditation when you wake or before you go to sleep. Open the Bible and read its message. You’ll find that it is new every day.
Finally, get to know the One who made you. You may feel that God is too big or too distant to hear our prayers. But He has promised to listen when we talk to Him. Ask Him to reveal your purpose, the reason He created you.  Call upon Him and pray to Him, seek Him with all your heart, and you will find Him.7
Become His friend.  We were created in His likeness and image. And just as we seek out relationships, God also seeks a personal relationship with us. The closer we get to Him, the more we will understand the person He created us to become.  When we truly understand ourselves, we will understand our purpose. It’s a chain reaction.
Each of us has a choice. We can live our lives according to our own plans and fall short, or we can allow God to transform us and mold us into the person we were created to be.
God created you with a purpose in mind. Don’t settle for mediocrity. Align your ways to His and allow His plans to unfold in your life. Step into your destiny!

28And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. 29For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. 30And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified. 31What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us?
